Siliguri, 14th September: A young woman, identified as Shilpi Haldar, has lodged a complaint at the Pradhan Nagar police station against Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s Ward No. 46 councillor Dilip Barman, alleging assault and abuse.
Reportedly, Shilpi’s family had reached out to the councillor with the complaint of their daughter. The family alleged that Shilpi is having an affair with another woman named Mahi Dev and both want to get married. The family strongly condemned the couple’s decision. With this, Shilpi’s family along with Mahi Dev reached the office of Barman.
It is alleged that the Shilpi’s family and the ward councillor assaulted and abused both women. After this, Shilpi lodged a complaint with Pradhan Nagar police station accusing Councilor Dilip Barman of assault and abuse. At the same time, Ward Councilor Dilip Burman called the allegation baseless and said that Shilpi’s family had come to him with the complaint and as a ward councillor, he was doing his job and trying to settle the problem.
