Sit-in protest at Phansidewa BDO office over alleged non-cooperation and irregularities

Phansidewa, 17th August: Phansidewa Panchayat Samiti Sabhapati Shanti Mardi Kisku and Saha-Sabhapati Pranabesh Mondal staged a sit-in protest outside the Phansidewa BDO office, alleging non-cooperation and irregularities by the BDO.

The protesters alleged that lakhs of rupees were being spent without resolutions from the Panchayat Samiti, approvals for various works were being withheld, and the Sabhapati had not been provided with a suitable room to work from.

The Sabhapati claimed that the issue remained unresolved despite intervention by the local administration. She has also written to the President of India seeking intervention and justice.

Phansidewa BDO Banani Majumdar, however, rejected the allegations as baseless and unreasonable. She said the Panchayat Samiti and BDO office have separate infrastructure and that the same chamber used by the previous Sabhapati has been allotted to the current Sabhapati.

The BDO said it would not be appropriate for the Panchayat Samiti Sabhapati to demand a separate room from those designated for BDO officials. She further stated that there was no obstruction or discrimination in administrative work and that the administration was committed to coordinating with the Panchayat Samiti for the smooth functioning of its activities.
