Siliguri, 24th August: A woman was arrested by the NJP police station before smuggling brown sugar worth Rs 30 lakhs. The alleged accused has been identified as Kamna Sarkar, a resident of Jalpaiguri. Presently, she was living in a rented house in Siliguri’s Ashighar.
Reportedly, Kamna had reached Siliguri from Malda with 260 gms of brown sugar. The said accused was waiting for someone to deliver her consignment in Noukaghat More. Acting on a secret tip-off the NJP police station launched a campaign and arrested the woman red-handed with the drugs.
The alleged was produced before in Jalpaiguri court. According to police sources, the woman will be taken on remand for 07 days for further investigation.
