West Bengal’s Barddhaman Railway Station building collapses, 1 dead

Kolkata, 05th January: When beautification works were on, a portion of West Bengal’s Barddhaman railway station collapsed on Saturday evening, trapping several people under the debris.
According to the railway officials, a major portion of the main gate of the railway station above the inquiry counter collapsed. The officials further said that the search operation for people who might be trapped under debris was underway. The railway police are currently investigating the entire matter.
According to sources, one of the two injured who were admitted at the Barddhaman Medical College- Hospital, succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Sunday.
Construction and repair work was underway at the century-old station building, as per the Railway sources.
