Siliguri, 23rd May: As the entire nation is under a complete lockdown to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, Mufti Abdus Salam, General Secretary of West Bengal Jamiat-Ulema, urged everyone to celebrate the festival of Eid al-Fitr at home.
In a press statement, Salam stated several precautionary measures would be taken across the state on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. He further requested everyone to celebrate the day at home.
On the other hand, various shops were spotted selling dry fruits, caps, and garments at the Siliguri Hashmi Chowk area today for Eid. However, the traders stated that only a handful of customers turned up at the shops.
