Rajganj, 11th August: Arunita Paul, a resident of Zamindarpara in Sannyasikata, Rajganj, brought laurels to the area by winning a gold medal in the Sub-Junior Kata category at the 20th All India Independence Cup Karate Championship 2026, held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
Arunita returned home on Tuesday following her gold-medal victory. Soon after her arrival, family members and neighbours congratulated her. Teachers from Sannyasikata High School also visited her home to felicitate her and expressed pride in her achievement.
Speaking about her success, Arunita said she was extremely happy and proud of the achievement. She said her next goal is to compete at the international level and that she is also planning to participate in a competition in Thailand in the future.
Arunita credited her parents, school teachers, Karate team, friends and coaches for supporting her journey. She also expressed special gratitude to her Sensei Bharati Barman for her guidance and training.
Several other competitors from Rajganj also won medals at the championship. Piu Roy secured a gold medal in the Senior category, while Shreya Roy, Aarti, Rupa Thakur, Jayanta Roy and Abu Raihan won bronze medals in different categories.
The achievements of the Rajganj competitors have brought joy to their coaches, families and school teachers.
Arunita’s father, Niranjan Paul, said his daughter’s achievement was a moment of immense joy for the family.
Sannyasikata High School teacher Chandan Kumar Barman said Arunita had made the school proud twice in the same year. He said she had earlier won two bronze medals at a competition in Delhi in April and has now returned from Delhi with a gold medal. The school congratulated Arunita and wished her success at the international level.
