West Bengal Civil Defence Volunteer’s Association stage protest demanding job permanency

Jalpaiguri, 10th December: The civil defence workers warned of taking their lives or boycotting the polls if their demands are not met within January. The workers of the West Bengal Civil Defence Volunteer’s Association staged a sit-in protest in front of the Jalpaiguri DM office demanding job permanency and 30 days of duty every month.


Association state co-president Prasenjit Basak accused the government of not standing by their side even after cooperating in all government work. He warned of boycotting the upcoming Assembly polls if their demands are not met within January.

Meanwhile, Tanmoy Biswas, a civil defence worker, warned of staging larger demonstrations and stated that the government will remain responsible if they commit suicide.
