WB Panchayat Polls 2023: SC rejects plea of WBSEC to halt deployment of Central forces

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court (SC) declined the plea put forth by the West Bengal State Election Commission (WB-SEC) regarding the order issued by the Calcutta High Court. The High Court’s directive entailed the deployment of central paramilitary forces prior to the Panchayat election in the state. According to reports, the Supreme Court chose not to intervene with the order handed down by the High Court (HC).
