WB elections 2021: BJP leader Alok Sen quits party, to stand as an independent candidate

Siliguri, 25th March: Alok Sen left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Dabgram-Fulbari assembly and will contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming assembly elections. He has already filed his nomination papers.


Speaking at a press conference in Siliguri, Alok Sen said that BJP did not give importance to their leaders. He took a jibe at Dabgram Fulbari BJP candidate Shikha Chatterjee and alleged that Mukul Roy has given tickets to the ones he has a good connection with or has quitted TMC or other parties.

Alok Sen further said that he will stand as an independent candidate and his main opponent is TMC. Besides, he claimed that BJP will not come to power in the state. He stated that around 170 disgruntled BJP leaders across the state will stand as independent candidates, this assembly election.
