Siliguri, 11th February: Bijan Sarkar, the independent candidate from Ward No. 33, has been accused of influencing voters with biryani and money by inviting them to his house. Ward No. 33 TMC has already lodged a written complaint with the Election Commission.
TMC workers alleged that Bijan Sarkar distributed cash and biryani among the residents of the area. The Election Commission and NJP police were then informed. However, the police were unable to find him at his house. The police administration is investigating the matter.
On the other hand, the supporters of Bijan Sarkar raised their voices protesting against such allegations raised by Trinamool Congress.
In this regard, Sarkar accused Trinamool of conspiring such an incident against him.
