Siliguri, 29th April: After news of ration rice being smuggled in Siliguri Ward No. 25 circulated, the Siliguri Police arrested a truck driver on Wednesday and also detained the vehicle.
The ward residents staged a protest, this morning, against the act and also detained a truck. Upon searching the vehicle, a huge quantity of ration rice was recovered. The locals further alleged that such activities were being carried out from the past few days.
The matter was immediately reported to the Siliguri police, who reached the spot and arrested the driver. The vehicle has also been seized.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
