Fulbari, 18th July: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who arrived in Siliguri as part of his North Bengal visit, inspected the India-Bangladesh border area at Fulbari on Saturday. He reached the Jummagach BSF Border Out Post (BOP), where elaborate security arrangements were made ahead of his visit.
An atmosphere of enthusiasm was witnessed in the Fulbari area as BJP workers and supporters welcomed Shah by showering flowers and playing traditional ‘Kansar’. Heavy security deployment was seen across the border area during the Home Minister’s visit.
At the Jummagach No. 18 Border Out Post, Shah is scheduled to participate in a tree plantation programme and inaugurate several development projects besides laying foundation stones for new initiatives.
A large number of BSF personnel have been deployed in the area in view of the visit. The visit is considered significant with a focus on strengthening border security and national security measures.
After the border inspection and subsequent programme, Shah headed towards Uttar Kanya where he is scheduled to participate in a high-level meeting on administrative and security-related issues.
