Voters in Siliguri unable to cast vote as names go missing from electoral roll under SIR process

Siliguri, 23rd April: Several voters in Siliguri were unable to exercise their franchise after finding their names missing from the electoral roll under the SIR process.

The issue came to light at a polling station set up at Sri Guru Vidyamandir School in Ward No. 46 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, where a large number of voters had gathered since morning.

Among them was 80-year-old Rajendra Prasad, who alleged that his name had been deleted from the voter list. He said he has been voting for the past 45 years in Lok Sabha, Assembly and municipal elections, but was unable to cast his vote this time due to the deletion.

Another voter, Rahul Roy, also expressed disappointment after finding his name missing from the electoral roll. He claimed he had voted in the last five elections but was not allowed to vote this time.

The incident led to visible disappointment among several voters who had reached the polling centre but could not participate in the democratic process.

Some voters raised concerns over the issue, stating that the deletion of names from the list had left them deprived of their voting rights.
