Voluntary organizations took to the streets against use of fireworks this Diwali

Siliguri, 31st October: The Calcutta High Court ordered a complete ban on usage and sale of all kinds of firecrackers including green crackers throughout the state during the upcoming Diwali, Kali Puja, Chatth Puja, Christmas, and New Year celebrations.


Today in Siliguri, several voluntary organizations namely Siliguri Fight Corona, Himalayan Nature, and Adventure Foundation, My Doctor took to the streets against the use of fireworks.


A rally commenced from Kanchenjunga Stadium today, where the organization members urged all to celebrate Diwali without fireworks. They raised awareness among the citizens with the slogan ‘Say No to Fireworks’.

Dr. Sandipan Sengupta said that the Calcutta High Court ordered a complete ban on the usage and sale of all kinds of firecrackers as COVID-19 can spread through smog.

On the other hand, environmentalist Animesh Basu urged all to follow the orders in order to protect birds-animals as well as the environment.
