Siliguri, 31st May: Vishwa Samvad Kendra Uttar Banga organized the Devarshi Narada Jayanti celebration at Dinabandhu Mancha in Siliguri on Sunday, with West Bengal Governor R.N. Ravi attending as the chief guest.
The event focused on the values of journalism, the role of the media in society, and the importance of responsible dissemination of information. Journalists from various parts of North Bengal participated in the programme.
A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of journalists for their contributions to society through their work in the media. The prestigious ‘Devarshi Narada Sarthak Jivan Samman 2026’ was conferred upon journalists who have consistently highlighted important social issues through their long-standing engagement in the field of news and journalism.
According to the organizers, the awards were presented in recognition of the recipients’ dedicated efforts and their commitment to serving the public interest through responsible reporting.
Addressing the gathering, Governor R.N. Ravi underscored the vital role of the media in a democratic society and stressed the need for responsible journalism. He urged journalists to remain impartial, uphold the truth, and continue portraying the realities of society with integrity and objectivity.
