‘Vande Bharat Express’ pelted with stones again, questions are being raised on safety of passengers

Siliguri, 09th January: In a span of a week, another incident of stone pelting on ‘Vande Bharat Express’ has come to the fore. This is the fourth time that such an incident has taken place. Reportedly, the stones were pelted on the train between Burdwan to Chandanpur on Monday while coming from Howrah to NJP. The window glass of the C5 coach of the train was shattered due to the pelting because of which the passengers on board were scared and immediately moved to another place. 


Not even ten days have passed since the commencement of the ‘Vande Bharat Express’ between Howrah-New Jalpaiguri such incidents have taken place four times in a row. Many people are questioning the safety of the passengers on the train due to repeated incidents of stone pelting on the Vande Bharat train. 

It is to be noted, that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the country’s seventh Vande Bharat train on December 30. Shortly after two days, on January 2, stones were pelted in the Vande Bharat Express, due to which a door glass of the C13 coach of the train broke. Following the incident, a complaint was lodged by the North Eastern Railway. Later on, a similar incident of stone pelting took place for the third time in a row. Following this incident, a high-level meeting was held between the officers of RPF and GRPF at NJP. 


A WhatsApp group was also formed for security. Despite the vigilance of the railway, on January 8, stones were pelted on the Vande Bharat Express near Barosai railway station. Shortly after a day, today stones were pelted on the train between Burdwan to Chandanpur. According to the sources, after the incident, the Railway Police and the Railway Department have started investigating the entire incident.
