Rajganj, 12th August: Jalpaiguri District-in-Council President Uttara Barman, on Thursday, laid the foundation stone of an 11 km road in Rajganj.
As per the information, the road will be constructed from Cheulibazar to Fatapukur More. An amount of 1 crore rupees under Rajya Sadak Yojana has been allotted for the project.
While Purnima Roy, President of Rajganj Panchayat Samiti, was also present during the event, Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Deputy Pradhan, panchayat members, and other party leaders were not spotted during the event. Besides, most of the seats remained vacant throughout the programme.
In this context, Barman publicly expressed outrage and stated that the absent members might not want the development of the area. “We will inquire into the matter,” she added.
