Ursh Utsav organized along Indo-Bangladesh border in Rajganj

Rajganj, 15th February: Ursh Utsav was organized along the Indo-Bangladesh border on the Jumma Gacha area of ​​the Sannyasikata Gram Panchayat under the Rajganj block. Thousands of people from the two countries took part in the celebration held at the shrine of Pir Baba Abdul Rashid.


According to the locals, while visiting his sister, Abdul Rashid, a Muslim cleric, died at Sannyasikata several years ago. According to his will, his tomb was built at Zero Point, the border between the two countries. At the time, the two countries were not divided by barbed wires and people gathered every year to celebrate his death anniversary. Although the border is currently under tight security, the festival is celebrated every year with the permission of the Border Security Force. This year marks the 31st death anniversary of Abdul Rashid and the BSF opened the border gate for the festival, for a specified time.

Apart from the Rajgunj block, a large number of people come to the Mazar-e-Sharif from different places. They are allowed to cross the border by showing their identity cards. A large number of people from Bangladesh participated in today’s celebrations. MLA of Rajganj block Khageswar Roy, President of Rajganj Panchayat Samiti Purnima Rai, Sub-divisional Magistrate Ranjan Kumar Das, Rajganj BDO NC Sherpa, DSP Pradeep Sarkar, Ursh Committee President Atiar Rahman, Maksud Alam, and BSF officials were present on the occasion.
