Unique Social Welfare Society becomes true patriot by picking up discarded national flags

Siliguri, 16th August: We celebrate Independence Day and Republic Day every year with a lot of pomp and fervour. However the next day, the streets are lined up with the Indian tricolour carelessly tossed away, not holding the same esteem it did a day before.

Amidst this, proving to be a true patriot, Unique Social Welfare Society took to the streets and collected all discarded national flags.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, Rakesh Dutt said that the initiative has been taken to save the Indian tricolour from being stained with pan, gutka and shoe stamps.

The members roamed all over the city on their motorbike ambulance and picked-up the flags thrown away on roads, sidewalks, and even from the drains, since this morning. They strongly condemned the “low mentality” of the citizens

Many of us are unaware of the fact that hoisting the flag is governed by many laws. Disregarding these laws is considered as a punishable offence and can even earn you a one-year prison sentence.
