Siliguri, 20th December: In a major crackdown, Pradhan Nagar police arrested two youths, identified as Sameer Biswas and Bapi Roy, with brown sugar and banned cough syrup. The duo, both residents of the Gobinda Nagar area near Devidanga, were caught during a swift operation on Thursday evening.
Reportedly, acting on a tip-off about the suspects’ plan to smuggle drugs, the police raided the Gobinda Nagar area, intercepting a bike carrying the two accused. Upon searching the vehicle, approximately 150 grams of brown sugar and 50 bottles of banned cough syrup were recovered. The bike was also seized during the operation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had been operating a drug trade in the Gobinda Nagar area for an extended period. Following their arrest, Sameer and Bapi were produced before the Siliguri court on Friday. The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
