Siliguri, 24th July: In a distressing incident, a 65-year-old security guard has been arrested by Siliguri Women Police Station for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor student of Class 9, resulting in her pregnancy. The accused has been identified as Munna Paswan, a resident of Ward No. 10 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
According to police sources, the minor is an orphan and lives with her grandmother. The accused, who worked near the girl’s house, was reportedly known to the family.
Police alleged that the accused sexually assaulted the minor multiple times by taking advantage of the family’s trust. The girl reportedly did not inform anyone about the incident due to fear and alleged threats.
The matter came to light after the school headmistress noticed unusual abdominal swelling in the student and informed the Women Police Station. A medical examination revealed that the girl was around six months pregnant.
During the investigation, the minor allegedly shared details of the incident with police. Based on her statement and medical reports, police arrested Munna Paswan and registered a case under relevant sections, including the POCSO Act.
The accused was produced before the Siliguri court, and further investigation is underway.
