Jaigaon, 05th March: Two people were arrested by the Police during a Naka checking at the National Highway under Jaigaon Police station in the Indo-Bhutan Frontier. The arrested individuals have been identified as Raju Islam and Suman Thapa.
The Jaigaon Police station in-charge Dipankar Shah stated that based on a tip-off, a Naka checking was conducted on the National Highway. During the checking, 1500 grams of brown sugar was recovered from the trunk of a vehicle. Two individuals, including the driver of the vehicle, have been arrested. Huge quantities of cigarettes and silver foil paper were also recovered from the vehicle.
The market value of the seized brown sugar has been estimated to be Rs 10 lakh. The accused arrested were presented in the Alipurduar court, today.
