Phansidewa, 21st July: Two individuals were arrested by the police in Phansidewa with 91 buffaloes loaded in two containers. The arrested accused have been identified as Zakir Hussain and Babul Ahmed, both residents of Bihar.
As per reports, during the naka checking of the police in Murliganj Checkpost on National Highway (NH-31) of Phansidewa, two loaded container trucks were apprehended based on suspicion. Upon initiating a search, 91 buffaloes were rescued from the containers. Police sources revealed that the buffaloes were being smuggled from Bihar to Assam without valid documents. The arrested accused was produced before the Siliguri Divisional Court today. At present, Bidhannagar Police Investigation Centre is probing the entire incident.
