Two leopard cubs spotted near Siliguri Junction, forest department continues search

Siliguri, 19th February: Sensation prevailed in the area after two leopard cubs were spotted in an area adjacent to Gate Bazaar of Siliguri Junction Railway station under Ward No. 01 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.


According to reports, on Sunday night, the locals spotted two leopard cubs roaming near the said area. Subsequently, the Sarugara Forest Department was alerted of the sighting of the leopard cubs. A team of forest officials promptly arrived at the location and took stock of the situation. The officials initiated a search to rescue the cubs and closely monitored the area.

Later, a team from the Sukna Forest Department also reached the location and joined in the search operation. Additionally, ward councilor Sanjay Pathak arrived at the spot upon receiving the news of the leopard sighting. The following morning, the forest department officials continued the search.
