Siliguri, 09th February: Two people died and eight others were injured in a road accident while they were heading from NJP to Nepal. The said incident happened on Thursday at Kestopur More in Bagdogra. Kharg Bahadur Newar, who was injured in the incident, said that they were going to Nepal. They had reached NJP station from Assam and fell asleep after sitting in the vehicle. He woke up suddenly after hearing a loud noise and saw two people lying unconscious.
According to police sources, the vehicle hit a truck parked on the side of the road from behind during which two people died on the spot, while eight other people in the vehicle sustained injuries. The injured were rescued and sent to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. As per the preliminary investigation, the accident occurred due to the driver falling asleep. The Bagdogra police have started investigating the entire incident.
