Rajganj, 04th July: Police from Bhorer Alo police station arrested two drug peddlers and recovered approximately 350 grams of brown sugar along with a scooty during an operation in the Motagach area along the Ambari-Hathi More road under Rajganj block.
According to police sources, late Friday night, a suspected exchange of a packet between two individuals was about to take place in the area. Acting on a confidential tip-off, police personnel were already present at the spot and conducted a raid, apprehending both suspects.
During the search, around 350 grams of brown sugar were recovered from the scooty’s storage compartment. The two-wheeler used in the incident was also seized on the spot.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Hasmat Sheikh, a resident of Malda district, and Liaquat Ali, a resident of Sannyasikata area in Rajganj.
Police stated that the duo had allegedly planned to bring narcotics from Malda and sell them in Rajganj. Following the arrests, a detailed investigation has been initiated into the case.
Both accused are scheduled to be produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Saturday.
