Two arrested with teak wood worth around Rs 10 lakhs in Ghoshpukur

Ghoshpukur, 25th March: Ghoshpukur Forest Department arrested two youths before they could smuggle a large number of teak wood. A vehicle has also been seized in this regard. The arrested have been identified as Muktar Ali and Arun Singh.
According to the information, the Ghoshpukur Forest Department conducted an operation on the National Highway-31 (D) adjacent to the Fulbari-Ghoshpukur bypass of Phansidewa based on a tip-off, last night. During this, a vehicle was stopped and searched. Teak wood worth ten lakh rupees was recovered from the said vehicle. The duo along with the vehicle was immediately taken into custody.
According to the Forest Department, the smugglers were trying to bring the consignment from Nagrakata in Alipurduar to Bihar. Today the accused were presented in the Siliguri court.
