Siliguri, 03rd November: The forest officials of Sarugara Range of Baikunthapur Forest Department arrested two men with pangolin scales. The arrested accused have been identified as Soumen Saha and Partha Das, residents of Jalpaiguri.
It has been learned that acting on a tip-off, the forest workers under the leadership of Sarugara Ranger Sanjay Dutta raided near the Matigara Balason Bridge and arrested the duo. 4 kg 67 grams of pangolin scales were recovered from their possession. The accused intended to smuggle the pangolin scales to Nepal.
Ranger Sanjay Dutta said that an investigation has been launched into whether anyone else was involved in the incident.
