Siliguri, 25th June: An attempt to smuggle banned cough syrup disguised under a load of pumpkins was thwarted by police in Siliguri. NJP Police Station, in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF), arrested two individuals identified as Rohit Patel and Ramakant Kole from Madhya Pradesh.
Reportedly, based on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the Fulbari area on Monday night and intercepted a lorry. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities recovered approximately 36,000 bottles of banned cough syrup.
Police sources revealed that the cough syrup was being illegally transported from Indore to Tripura. The arrested individuals were presented before the Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday. NJP Police Station has initiated an investigation into the incident.
