Siliguri, 11th September: Pradhan Nagar police arrested two individuals in possession of brown sugar and banned cough syrup. The arrested individuals have been identified as Hamirul Shaikh (24) and Aviraj Kumar Singh (20), with Hamirul hailing from Murshidabad and Aviraj residing in the Champasari area of Siliguri.
According to reports, on Sunday, two youths arrived in the Dagapur Tea Garden area, posing as laborers while attempting to sell drugs. The undercover police of Pradhan Nagar police station received intelligence about this illicit activity. Consequently, the police swiftly launched an operation, apprehending both suspects in the act. During the arrest, the police recovered banned cough syrup and a packet containing 53 grams of brown sugar from the individuals.
Subsequently, both youths were booked under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act, and they have been taken into custody. Today, both individuals have been presented before the Siliguri court.
