Two arrested with brown sugar and banned cough syrup in Panitanki of Kharibari

Kharibari, 14th May: In a recent development, the officials of the Panitanki Outpost have apprehended two individuals in possession of narcotics. The arrested accused has been identified as Lalita Barman (33), a resident of Goursing Jote, and Bal Bahadur Tamang (38), a resident of Sikkim.


Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the area adjacent to the Panitanki overbridge in Kharibari on Monday night and halted the two accused. During the search, the officials recovered 52 grams of brown sugar and 19 bottles of banned cough syrup worth lakhs from their possession.

Police sources revealed that the accused had traveled from Sikkim to Panitanki to purchase the contraband. Subsequently, the two were arrested and produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Monday. At present, the entire incident is under further police investigation.
