Two arrested with banned cough syrup in Rajganj

Rajganj, 28th May: Police arrested two persons with a consignment of banned cough syrup during a late-night operation in the Balram area under Rajganj. Acting on specific inputs, police from the Bhorer Alo Police Station recovered 50 bottles of banned cough syrup during the raid.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abtar Ali, a resident of Badlagach area under Majhiali Gram Panchayat, and Tapan Roy, a resident of Haricharan Vita area under Binnaguri Gram Panchayat.

According to police sources, the accused were transporting the cough syrup on a motorcycle. The vehicle used in the operation, along with three mobile phones, has also been seized.

The estimated market value of the seized contraband is around ₹1 lakh, officials said. The accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri District Court on Thursday. Police have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident.
