Two arrested for cattle smuggling by Phansidewa police, 28 cattle rescued

Phansidewa, 27th May: In a successful operation during Naka Checking on Bidhannagar National Highway, cops rescued 28 cattle from a truck involved in cattle smuggling. The truck driver and co-driver, identified as Ansar Reza, a resident of Dalkhola, and Akshay Lal Yadav, from Gopalganj in Bihar.


According to police sources, the truck was illegally transporting cattle from Bihar to Assam en route to Bangladesh. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the truck during checking on Bidhannagar National Highway. The driver and co-driver were arrested on the grounds of failing to provide valid documentation of the cattle. Today, both arrested individuals were presented before the Siliguri divisional court. The police are investigating the matter.
