Siliguri, 13th May: Police achieved a major breakthrough in Kerala’s nearly Rs 4 crore narcotics case with the arrest of two accused from Siliguri. The arrested accused have been identified as Hiran K.K. and Aromal, both residents of Kerala, who had reportedly been absconding for a long time.
According to reports, a major drug trafficking racket was busted in Kerala last month, during which the names of the two accused surfaced in the investigation. Following this, Kerala Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and launched a nationwide search operation to trace them.
During the investigation, police initially received information that the accused were hiding in Gujarat. However, by the time the police team reached there, the duo had allegedly fled to Siliguri.
Sources said the accused were hiding in the Sevoke Road area of Siliguri. Kerala Police, along with Bhakti Nagar police station, later conducted a joint operation and arrested both accused.
The duo was produced before Jalpaiguri court on Wednesday. Kerala Police is now taking steps to secure their transit remand and take them back to Kerala for further investigation.
