Truck driver arrested along with 150 kgs of cannabis in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri, 11th August: Based on a tip-off, the IC of Kotwali Police Station Bipul Sinha along with the police force launched search operations at Jalpaiguri’s NH-27 Goshala More and recovered 150 kgs of cannabis from a truck.


Peculiarly an ‘Army’ poster had been pasted on the vehicle. Following this, the truck driver Tejveer was arrested. He is reportedly a resident of Patna in Bihar.


According to police sources, the estimated market value of the recovered cannabis is around 15 lakh rupees, which was being transported from Imphal (Manipur) to Siliguri.

After questioning the arrested truck driver, the police learned that while the truck driver Tejveer was on his way to Patna to deliver the belongings of an army official, he was stopped midway and was asked to deliver few sacks in Siliguri. Later, the sacks turned out to be 150 kgs of cannabis.

The Kotwali police have started an investigation into the whole incident.
