Tripura Police worker arrested on the charge of killing a TMC leader in Mainaguri

Jalpaiguri, 01st March: A Tripura police worker, identified as Bikash Roy was arrested under the alleged murder of a Trinamool Congress leader Bhombol Ghosh in Mainaguri. Reportedly, Roy is a resident of the Chura Bhandar area in ​​Mainaguri. The arrested accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri district court today and the police took him on a 10-day remand.


According to the complaint, a conflict broke out between the TMC and BJP workers in the Chura Bhandar area on February 7. Bhombol Ghosh was severely injured in the incident. He was then rescued and admitted to a private hospital in Siliguri, where he succumbed to his injuries on February 22.

After the death of Ghosh, the locals expressed outrage and blamed Bikash Roy for his death. However, Roy was absconding since the incident. The Mainaguri police then launched an operation and arrested him from Tripura. Meanwhile, Bikash’s lawyer denied all the allegations.
