Trinamool leader Ranjan Sarkar and Ward Coordinator Sharadendu Chakraborty clash over Indoor Stadium Safe House

Siliguri, 26th August: Few days after the inauguration of the safe house in Siliguri Indoor Stadium, Ward Coordinator and SMC’s administrative board member Sharadendu Chakraborty (Joy) expressed displeasure over the newly constructed facility. Besides, some locals have come up with varied allegations.

Chakraborty alleged that garbage from the safe house is being dumped outside the facilty and is left lying out in the open for hours.

He further asserted that after the ambulances leave the patients in front of the safe house gate at night, the patients are often spotted freely roaming around the locality while waiting for the gates to open.

On Wednesday morning, few locals gathered in front of the indoor stadium under the leadership of Sharadendu Chakraborty opposing the negligence of the administration. Upon receiving the news, the Siliguri police reached the spot shortly after to take stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, the opponents denied all the allegations. District Trinamool President Ranjan Sarkar stated that people are being misled by raising these allegations. Such an act coming from a member of the SMC is completely unethical.

Ranjan Sarkar stated that a case should be filed under the Disaster Management Act against anyone trying to create chaos regarding COVID-19 in the city.

Shardendu Chakraborty, in his counter attack, stated that according to an agreement between a company and SMC, it was decided that the latter will be looking after the garbage collection. Hence, he drew SMC’s attention to the problems.

Chakraborty further claimed that such charges are being made against him as other members of SMC’s Board of Administration do not get along with him quite often.
