Siliguri, 14th August: West Bengal Tourism Minister and Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh visited the Siliguri Head Post Office on Friday following reports of people being forced to wait in queues overnight to update their Aadhaar e-KYC.
Residents have been facing considerable inconvenience while availing themselves of the service, with many reportedly spending the night on the roadside while waiting for their turn.
After the issue was highlighted by Siliguri Times, Shankar Ghosh took the initiative to address the problem and visited the post office to discuss measures with the authorities to ensure that people do not have to stand in queues for hours or spend the night waiting for Aadhaar e-KYC services.
Speaking at the post office, Ghosh said he had seen reports of people arriving at night and waiting in queues. He said the issue had not previously been brought to his attention and that he visited the post office himself after becoming aware of the situation through the media.
The Tourism Minister said discussions had also been held with the administration to find a solution. He added that he had already spoken to the District Magistrate regarding the issue and would also discuss the matter with bank authorities.
