Siliguri, 14th August: A case of allegedly morphing photographs of women taken from social media and posting them in an obscene form has come to light under the Pradhan Nagar Police Station area. Around 15 to 20 women and young women have reportedly lodged complaints with the police.
Based on the complaints, police arrested Sujit Kumar Dubey, a resident of Dagapur. He is accused of taking photographs from social media, allegedly morphing them using technology and posting the altered images through separate accounts.
Police have seized the accused’s mobile phone as part of the investigation. He was produced before the Siliguri court on Friday.
Police are investigating how many photographs were allegedly morphed and on which social media platforms they were posted.
Police have urged people to exercise caution while connecting with unknown individuals on social media and sharing personal photographs online.
