Siliguri, 05th June: A tree plantation programme was organised at Sri Guru Vidya Mandir School in Siliguri on the occasion of World Environment Day under the initiative of the administration.
During the programme, students and attendees were urged to plant more trees and take responsibility for protecting nature. A pledge for environmental conservation was also administered to the students.
The event was organised as per state government directives and was attended by SDO Vikas Ruhela, Darjeeling Additional District Magistrate Sumit Kumar Roy, Baikunthapur Forest Division DFO Mudit Kumar, Wildlife CCF J.B. Bhaskar, and Silviculture Division DFO Uma Rani, along with other officials from the administration and forest department.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of reducing plastic use, planting trees, and conserving natural resources, stating that even small individual efforts can contribute significantly to environmental protection.
They further emphasised that collective efforts and public awareness are essential to preserve ecological balance and ensure a sustainable environment for future generations.
Special focus was placed on sensitising children about environmental conservation through active participation and awareness activities.
