Tragic accident claims life of a student in Salbari 

Siliguri, 16th March: Tragedy struck after 11th grade girl student died after being hit by a Toto on Ashram Road under Salbari traffic point in Siliguri. The student has been identified as Janki Thakur. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area.


Reportedly, Janaki Thakur, daughter of Om Prakash Thakur, a resident of Damragram, Salbari, was on her way to school to appear for her examination. While on her way, a Toto loaded with goods went rampant and overturned on Janki Thakur. After which she was seriously injured and was rushed to the nearest nursing home with the help of the local people. On arriving at the hospital, the doctors declared Janaki dead.

On the other hand, after the incident, the police of Salbari traffic point reached the spot and caught the Toto driver, and handed him over to the Pradhan Nagar police. According to eyewitnesses, the incident transpired due to the overload and dilapidated road. 


On the other hand, Om Prakash Thakur, the father of the deceased student, said that he received the news of his daughter getting seriously injured after a toto overturned on her at the Ashram Road. Hearing the horrifying news of his daughter, he rushed to the spot and took her to the nursing home where the doctors declared her brought dead.
