Traders will not be evicted to enable widening of Burdwan Road: Mayor Goutam Deb

Siliguri, 06th December: In a recent development, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb made significant announcements regarding the state government’s decision to widen the road stretch from the Burdwan Road flyover to Naukaghat. The Mayor assured the allocated traders and businessmen that they would not be required to vacate their establishments to widen the road.


According to reports, on Wednesday, Mayor Goutam Deb visited the market area adjacent to Jalpai More and made the announcement. He clarified that although certain businesses will have to be shifted behind, the widening of the road will not affect the businesses of the local traders and shop owners in the area. In alignment with this, the traders have been asked to move their establishments backward during the ongoing road-widening work, to make for development.

In addition, the Mayor elaborated on the Chief Minister’s program on December 12 at the Kanchenjunga Stadium of Siliguri. However, he refused to convey details regarding the CM’s North Bengal visit.
