Darjeeling, 15th October: Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) has sent a letter to the state government, through the District Magistrate, seeking permission to commence toy train service in the Hills before Dashain (Dussehra).
According to the information, Darjeeling DM S Ponnambalam has forwarded the letter to West Bengal Secretariat Nabanna. Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Goutam Deb has also assured to take a decision on the matter after discussing with the Chief Secretary of Ministry of Tourism.
While addressing the media, A. K. Mishra – Director of DHR, stated that with the permission of the state government, Darjeeling’s toy train will be open for service before the much-awaited Durga Puja.
