Toto driver arrested in connection to theft of clothes worth lakhs in Siliguri

Siliguri, 21st February: The Pradhan Nagar police successfully apprehended the accused e-rickshaw (toto) driver on charges of stealing clothes worth lakhs of rupees in Siliguri. Significantly, the accused Gopal Saha (31), a resident of the Majhabari area under the jurisdiction of the Ashighar Outpost, was arrested within 14 days after a complaint was lodged at the police station.


According to reports, on February 6, a businessman from Uttar Dinajpur district had purchased clothes worth lakhs of rupees from the Gauri Shankar Market and travelled towards the Siliguri Junction in the accused driver Gopal Saha’s vehicle. Upon arriving at Siliguri Junction, the businessman asked the driver to wait for a few minutes and left for a moment. To his dismay, the businessman returned and found out that the vehicle was missing and the driver had fled with the clothes.

The matter was immediately reported at the Pradhan Nagar police station and the police officials identified the accused driver with the aid of the CCTV footage. Following this, on Tuesday, the accused was arrested from the Siliguri Junction area. Subsequently, the stolen clothes were also recovered from the residence of the driver while the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court.
