TMC’s midnight Independence Day celebrations cancelled due to prevailing pandemic

Siliguri, 14th August: Due to the prevailing COVID situation, the annual midnight Independence Day celebrations of the Trinamool Congress have been cancelled. Every year a cultural programme is organized by the party on the evening of August 14. Following this, the national flag is hoisted at midnight. However, the event was cancelled in Siliguri this year as per the instructions of the state leaders.


A pandal was also set up at the Mela grounds of Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri. However, due to the existing night curfew from 9 pm-5 am till August 15, the event has been cancelled.

On Saturday, Darjeeling district Trinamool president Ranjan Sarkar said that this year, the party’s Independence Day celebrations have been cancelled.
