Siliguri, 30th October: Tension gripped the Shaktigarh area following a brawl between two groups of Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers. As a result, a TMC worker with significant injuries was admitted to the hospital. Additionally, an individual has been arrested for the alleged attack.

According to reports, on Sunday night, a scuffle broke out between two groups of Trinamool workers in front of Shaktigarh Ujjwal Sangha. Biplab Das, a TMC worker, was severely injured in the attack and was taken to a nursing home in Khalpara. Meanwhile, both the groups involved in the brawl have raised allegations against each other for the incident. Previously, there have been occasional clashes between two factions of TMC in the Shaktigarh area.

In this regard, one group of workers claimed that two workers were returning home after attending the Vijaya Sammilani celebration when the other group of TMC workers, in the area, launched an attack. Further, they alleged that the group had also caused problems and unrest previously, in the locality.

The other group asserted that they were subjected to attack by about 7-8 workers of the other faction and injured the two. Meanwhile, the injured Biplab Das’s wife filed a formal complaint at the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police station which prompted the arrest.
