TMC worker attacked in Dinhata of Cooch Behar

Cooch Behar, 20th June: A Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker was injured on Monday night after being stabbed with a sharp weapon in the Bara Atiyabari Gram Panchayat area under Dinhata Block-1. The injured has been identified as Binay Barman.


The Trinamool Congress alleged that on Monday night, after campaigning in support of Trinamool candidate Sharmistha Barman Sarkar at Bara Atiabari Gram Panchayat within the Bara Atiabari booth of Dinhata Block-1, Devashish Barman, the husband of Sharmistha Barman Sarkar and Vice President of the Trinamool Youth Congress in the block, along with some other party workers, were returning home. During that time, a group of unidentified miscreants attacked Binay Barman, using sharp weapons. He suffered severe injuries and was left bleeding on the ground.

After the attack, he was immediately rescued and rushed to Dinhata Divisional Hospital. Later, he was referred to MJN Medical College and Hospital, Cooch Behar. Meanwhile, the TMC party has accused the BJP of the attack, however, the latter denied terming the allegations as the TMC’s attempt to cover its own factional conflicts.
