Siliguri, 24th March: Tension surfaced on Thursday, from Siliguri’s Ward No. 24 regarding the ward office. After this, Darjeeling District TMC leader Papiya Ghosh reached the spot to take a stock of the incident. During this, she took a tour of the area along with other TMC leaders.
It is to be noted that, a dispute arose between TMC and BJP over Congress’ office in Fuleshwari of the said ward. The TMC Ward Councillor Pratul Chakraborty claimed that they had an agreement about setting up a ward office in the Congress office. However, it is alleged that the BJP leaders heckled and pushed Pratul Chakraborty when he arrived at the office on Thursday morning. The ruckus quickly escalated and created a tense atmosphere.
However, after some time Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar and later Mayor Goutam Deb reached the spot. After this, everyone opened the lock and entered the office in the presence of the mayor. After the incident, Papiya Ghosh also reached to the area at night and listened to the entire matter from the leaders. In this regard, Papiya Ghosh said that the party strongly condemned the incident and will continue to oppose it in the coming days. She further added that the party and all of them stand with Pratul Chakraborty.
