Siliguri, 24th March: Three people, including a pregnant woman, lost their lives in a tragic road accident while on their way to North Bengal Medical College Hospital in an ambulance. Another person was severely injured in the accident. All of them are residents of Kalimpong.
As per the information, the deceased, Anisha Rai, was undergoing treatment at Kalimpong District Hospital. Yesterday she was referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. Later that night, she was being taken to the hospital in an ambulance, during which, the vehicle collided head-on with a truck in the Noukaghat Porajhar area. Anisha Rai, her mother-in-law Leela Rai and ambulance driver Abhishek Bishwakarma died on the spot.
On the other hand, Anisha’s husband Kapil Baraily was severely injured. He was rescued and sent to NBMCH. Meanwhile, the driver of the truck is absconding since the incident. An investigation has been launched. DCP Joy Tudu and other police officers visited the spot today.
