Three drivers and trucks laden with sand seized in Siliguri

Siliguri, 08th September: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police have started taking strict action to stop the illegal quarrying in the rivers operating in the city. As a result of this, last night, on the basis of a tip-off the police of Bhakti Nagar police station went undercover and arrested three sand-laden trucks with three drivers from the Prakash Nagar Military Haat river area.


The three accused have been identified as Manoj Kumar Sahni, Raju Sahni, and Naren Roy. All three have been produced in Jalpaiguri court today. It is to be noted that during the meeting in Uttar Kanya during her North Bengal tour, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee directed the police administration to take stern action against the illicit mining and mafia from rivers. Since then, the police have been patrolling and observing suspicious activities on the rivers.
